What is a Balayage? ...And what's the hype.

Balayage

( Ball • eee • ahhj )

THIS IS MOST DESIRED YET MISUNDERSTOOD TERM IN THE HAIR INDUSTRY AS OF THE PAST COUPLE SEASONS. IT IS OUR JOB AS STYLISTS TO NOT ONLY GIVE YOU THE COMPLETE LOOK YOU WANT, BUT TO FURTHER EDUCATE YOU ON THESE TRENDS.

So, lets start at the root, Balayage is a French word meaning:
Sweep, or sweeping

Which is exactly what we, as stylists, perform during this process.

First off, every stylist is their own individual artist and there are no “right and wrongs” as far as creativity goes. Everyone has their own process of getting that perfectly sun kissed look, which attracts us to certain stylists.

Personally, I take fine sections and paint (sweep) the hair with product in places that i can visually determine that i want lighter.

A recent Balayage partnered with R&Co Tinsel Smoothing Oil.
I believe this technique is one of the largest turning points in the future of hair.”

It is my favorite way to get the end look that i want because it let’s me see my clients as a blank canvas and literally paint the style I see. As a stylist, I see things artistically and visually; so what better way to achieve dream hair then to paint my ideas onto hair exactly as I see them.

This is my personal favorite peroxide brand.
I use Schwarzkopf blond me lightening system. It offers perfect neutralization due to its anti yellow agents which directly targets the hair pigment that causes those warm, yellow (brassy) looking tones. And also the only color line that is dedicated to blondes.

It is also believed that a balayage is an end result,

but it is truly just a technique used to achieve the end result. Balayage is not one individual look, it's completely different for everyone, based on their hair and specific likings. The possibilities are endless. Looks can go from dramatic to simply subtle for dimension.

And now you can officially ask for a balayage (and pronounce it BALL-EEE-YAJ) with confidence from your local stylist.

Please share this with all your girls and spread the word on the new style that is defining dream hair.
